I hope I don't become obsessed...

I set my blog up a couple hours ago and this is my fourth post. I hope I'm not going to become obsessed with my blog like some of those people you read about. I know this is my first day blogging, but still.

We're in the process of moving right now and things are hectic in the house. Boxes are everywhere, walls are bare, and stuff is just lying around the house waiting to be sold or packed. We got an offer on the house the morning after the night when our real estate agent put it on the market. Since the house we are going to is about 400 square feet smaller than our current one (we also have an unfinished basement which would add about 1000 square feet) we have very limited space. Being the pack rat I am, it was hard for me to get rid of all my collections over the years, but it had to be done.

Ever heard of the Google phone, AKA the G1? I got mine last year shortly after they came out, and I already had T-Mobile service. The pricetag is a bit big but I honestly think it's worth it. Easily trumps the iPhone and Blackberry. If you have T-Mobile, considering switching over, or your contract is almost up, definetly check it out. It has a market just like the iPhone but has a huge amount of free apps. I can honestly say that it is the best phone I have ever had. In fact, I'm posting from it right now and it will probably end up being my main way of blogging.

Anyway, I'm probably going to be switching to WordPress soon so I can organize my blogs by category so people don't have to through meaningless nonsense to get to the stuff they want to read about. Besides, with WordPress I can eventually get my own domain. Signing off for now, if I have the urge to blog again, trust me when I say I will ;D

GameChosun Korean Tournament

There's been a lot discussion about the GameChosun Tournament in Korean Aion. I wanted to bring it to the attention to whoever may be reading this blog. You can go to YouTube and search for "GameChosun Aion Tournament" to watch some of the action. A lot of it is pretty epic. There was a video where a single Assassin rolled the other team in less than a minute. People are starting to choose their classes based on these videos, but be warned that some of them are way overgeared compared to others. Do your research before you choose your class, and pick a class that you will enjoy playing. Don't play one because they're the strongest class, chances are they will get nerfed and you will be stuck with a gimp character you don't enjoy playing.

Anyway I'm going to stop right there because I will either turn into a fanboy or a hater on classes or the game in general. That ends my talk about it, so there we go. Just wanted to let everyone know about them.

Aion

So as you may have been wondering about Aion as I mentioned in my introduction, I'm here to give you a small explanation of the games' features. Ok here we go.

Aion is the newest MMORPG by NCSoft in which you become a Daeva, Daevas are deity-like beings that can fly and extract aether (like gathering ingredients for crafting) from the world around you. The story behind Aion is that the two playable races (Elyos and Asmodian) were at war in their planet Atreia. The god that created them, Aion, sent another race to Atreia called the Balaur who were meant to rule the planet. However they soon got greedy with their power and started wanting more and more from Aion. Somewhere in the mix, the planet split in half with the Tower of Eternity at the center. The Elyos and Asmodians are still at war. This is where you come in.

You can pick to play Elyos or Asmodian, then all further characters will be whichever race you pick on that account on the server that you choose. Elyos are more of elitists who think they're always right. They resemble humans. Asmodians, on the other hand, are the modest ones who went through a tough time and survived. They resemble beasts walking on their hind legs with a mane and claws, the whole bit. Balaur is the race that moderates the power between the two races and live in a place called the Abyss. The Abyss is a place where open PvP between Asmodians and Elyos. You can take fortresses in the Abyss which let you gain influence. Too much influence on one side and the Balaur will start targetting that side, and in extreme cases GM's can take over the Balaur and restore balance.

Now there are eight classes that you can choose from the four basic classes. Warriors turn into either a Templar (the tank class) or Gladiator (melee damage class). Mages can become Spiritmasters (the pet class) or Sorcerers (the archetypical mage). Scouts are made into Rangers (the Archer) or Assassins (extreme melee damage with little defense). Finally, Priests either become Clerics (the healer) or Chanters (the buffers).

There is also a crafting system in which you can make your own gear. However during the last closed beta for NA, I didn't try out crafting and I don't really plan to until open beta, so I can't give a fair review of it yet. For those of you interested in the game, I recommend checking out fansites dedicated to Aion such as AionSource or AionBlah.

The blog to be at!

Welcome to my blog, the best, most awesome blog on the Internet. I'm Slater and I'm not too good at introductions :P Well my focus on this blog will be stuff I find interesting online, games, movies, etc. Contact me with hate mail, love mail, and phone number requests. Whatever you want.

Anywho I'm currently waiting on a game called Aion. Aion is an MMORPG by NCSoft with over 4 million subscribers in Asia alone. The NA/EU release will be late this September with the testing phases every other weekend into August. The game is killer, literally. It is probably the best game I have ever played and will knock your socks off as soon as you start to play it.

You see how bad I am at introductions? :(

On a final note I recently heard about polyphasic sleep. Polyphasic sleeping is where you take quick naps everyday. There are two different ways to achieve it, called uberman and everyman. Uberman is six 20 minute naps a day. People who have done it and stuck with it have reported great results with more energy than monochromatic sleep. I haven't done a ton of research about everyman, but from what I understand you get a core sleep that is 3 to 4 hours every night and 3 or 4 30 minute naps the rest of the day. If that's too hardcore for you, then there is also bichromatic sleeping where you sleep twice a day. Haven't done a ton of research on anything but uberman, and it was just a bunch of skimming. Research it a bit, and don't take my word for it. Practically nothing has been researched about the long term effects, but some claim to have been on it for two years. Most switch back to monophasic due to social reasons, but it's worth a try if your schedule will allow it. I'll blog more about it later so stay tuned!
